Persis Sydney Drell is the James and Anna Marie Spilker Professor in the School of Engineering at Stanford University, holding joint appointments in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Physics. She served as Stanford's Provost from February 2017 to September 2023, preceded by roles as Dean of the School of Engineering (2014–2017) and Director of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (2007–2012).
