Pedro J. Perez is a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Huelva, Spain, since 2005. He is a leading figure in homogeneous catalysis and hydrocarbon functionalization, particularly recognized for his work on alkane activation and alternative reaction media like supercritical carbon dioxide.
- PhD in Organometallic Chemistry (University of Sevilla, 1991), supervised by Prof. Ernesto Carmona
- Postdoctoral Fellow at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (1991-1993) under Prof. Maurice Brookhart
His research focuses on:
- Design of homogeneous catalysts for hydrocarbon functionalization
- Innovations in carbene, nitrene, and oxo transfer processes
- Development of sustainable catalytic methodologies
He has published approximately 125 articles in top journals and delivered over 100 lectures at major conferences in catalysis and organometallic chemistry.
- 2016 Gold Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry of Spain (RSEQ)
- 2015 Homogeneous Catalysis Award of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)
- 2007 Inorganic Chemistry Award of RSEQ
Perez founded the research group 'Coordination and Organometallic Compounds toward Homogeneous Catalysis' at the University of Huelva, which has become a notable force in the field.
