Penelope J.E. Davies is a Professor of Art History specializing in Roman architecture at the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) and holds the Hedda Andersson Professorship in Classical Archaeology at Lund University. She received honorary doctorates from Lund University (2021) and holds degrees from the University of Cambridge and Yale University.

Research: Her work focuses on ancient Roman architectural history, particularly political dimensions in Republican Rome. Current projects include *Ancient Lives of Roman Buildings* and co-editing the *Cambridge Urban History of Europe*.
