Pelin Demirel is an Associate Professor (Reader) in Innovation and Sustainability at the Dyson School of Design Engineering, Imperial College London, and Director of Inclusive Practice. Her work focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, with particular emphasis on transitioning to net-zero and inclusive societal frameworks. She leads Imperial's role in the London Interdisciplinary Social Science (LISS) Doctoral Training Partnership's Research Area 2: Business Analytics, Management, and Applied Economics. Pelin holds affiliations with the Grantham Institute and Dyson academics, and is a guest editor for several journals, including the British Journal of Management and Eurasian Business Review.
Her research is funded by prestigious bodies like the Leverhulme Trust, ESRC, and EPSRC. Notable recognition includes being a Future Leader at The Foundation for Science and Technology (2021). Pelin’s career spans academic roles at Imperial College, University of Southampton, and University of Nottingham, with expertise in environmental management, industry economics, and innovation strategy.
Her work bridges theory and practice, addressing challenges in circular economy policies, sustainable healthcare systems, and green entrepreneurship. Pelin actively mentors PhD candidates and oversees academic visitors, offering supervision in innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
