Dr. Peggy Otwell is a Teaching Professor in the Music Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), specializing in piano, piano pedagogy, and piano literature. She is a nationally recognized teacher and performer, with extensive experience in solo and chamber music performances across the USA and Europe. Co-founder of Chamber Artists of Washington (D.C.), she performed with the ensemble for over 15 years. A former Fulbright Scholar to France, Dr. Otwell has recorded the complete piano works of French composer Déodat de Séverac for Musical Heritage Society Records and contributed to Schirmer Performance Editions as an editor and performer.
Educationally, she holds a Bachelor of Music (BM) in Piano Performance from the Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.) and both a Master of Music (MM) and Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance from the University of Maryland College Park.
Her research and professional activities focus on piano pedagogy, historical performance practices, and the promotion of underrepresented composers. She actively engages in community outreach through teaching and masterclasses, blending academic rigor with artistic innovation.
