Peggy A. Honore

Peggy A. Honore is the AmeriHealth Caritas – General Russel Honoré Endowed Professor at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in the School of Public Health and School of Medicine. She holds a tenured Full Professor rank, specializing in population health, policy, workforce development, and healthcare finance. Her roles include directing the Health Policy Honors Program and Population Health Management Clerkship for LSU medical students.

Education: Doctorate in Health Administration (DHA) from Medical University of South Carolina (2004, with honors), Master of Health Administration (Tulane University, 1994), and BS in Accounting (Southern University, 1979).

Research focuses on public health quality, policy, and system sustainability. She co-led initiatives to address healthcare workforce shortages through partnerships with Northshore Technical Community College and Delgado Community College. Recent grants include a 2022-2024 Louisiana Medicaid award for her Health Policy Honors Program.

She serves on global committees such as the WHO Coalition for Strengthening Public Health Capacities in Europe and the ADURIE Task Force. Awards include her DHA honor (1st in class) and leadership roles at HHS and the Institute of Medicine.

Grants and collaborations highlight her work in public health systems research, including the HHS Consensus Statement on Quality in the Public Health System. She has authored over 60 publications and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice.
