Stephen Phillippi

Dr. Stephen Phillippi is a Full Professor with Tenure at the LSU School of Public Health, serving as Chair of Community Health Science & Policy and Jim Finks Endowed Chair of Health Promotion. He leads the Institute for Public Health & Justice and the Center for Evidence to Practice, focusing on translating research into policy and practice. His work emphasizes behavioral health, juvenile justice reform, and evidence-based practices. Dr. Phillippi holds a PhD in Social Work from LSU, an MSW from Tulane, and a BA in Psychology from Loyola University.

Research Interests: Behavioral health policy, juvenile justice system reform, telehealth expansion, LGBTQ+ health disparities, and workforce development. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on topics like minority stress, crisis response systems, and trauma-informed care.

Labs & Teams: Directs the Institute for Public Health & Justice and Center for Evidence to Practice, collaborating with state agencies and national organizations to advance health equity and justice reform.
