Martha L. Cuccia

Martha L. Cuccia is a Full-Time Non-Tenure Track Lecturer in the Department of Community Health Science & Policy at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Public Health. She holds an MPH from Tulane University (1996) and a BA in Journalism from LSU (1987), with additional doctoral studies in International Health and Development at Tulane (1997-1999). Her expertise spans Social Justice, STEM Pipeline Development, Health Equity, and Public Health Policy.

Research interests include LGBTQ+ health, environmental sustainability, mass incarceration impacts, voting rights as public health, immigration policy, and mentoring initiatives. She also explores health effects of pet ownership and international child-rearing practices. Her work integrates community health policy with education system improvements.

A dedicated educator, Ms. Cuccia has served continuously as a full-time instructor since 2017. Her service activities include leadership roles in DEI committees, curriculum development, and over 20 committee memberships across LSUHSC-NOLA's School of Public Health. She co-chairs community outreach for Association of Women in Science and advises the International Student Association.

Active in public service, she coordinates YouthForce NOLA career initiatives, participates in MLK Day of Service, and volunteers with SOS Village and Bread for the World. Her presentations focus on public health educational outcomes and LGBTQ+ youth issues in schools.
