Dr. Peggilee Wupperman is an Associate Professor of Psychology at John Jay College of the City University of New York and an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Yale School of Medicine. Her research focuses on Mindfulness and Modification Therapy (MMT), a transdiagnostic approach targeting dysregulated behaviors such as substance abuse, aggression, and binge eating. She holds expertise in mindfulness-based interventions, emotion regulation, and clinical psychology.
Education includes a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Texas, a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale's Psychotherapy Development Center, and clinical internships at Yale School of Medicine.
Research interests emphasize evaluating MMT’s efficacy in treating dysregulated behaviors, with a focus on integrating mindfulness, values clarification, and emotion regulation strategies. Key areas include addiction, impulsive behaviors, and mental health treatment innovation.
Publications span peer-reviewed journals in clinical psychology, psychiatry, and addiction studies, with notable contributions to Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, Clinical Psychologist, and Psychiatry Research. Her 2019 book Treating Impulsive, Addictive, and Self-Destructive Behaviors won the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award.
