Dr. Andrew Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University and an Adjunct Scientist at the University of Ottawa Institute of Mental Health Research. He specializes in behavioral addictions, substance use disorders, and concurrent mental health conditions.
- PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Calgary
- CPA-accredited psychology residency at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre
His research focuses on identifying shared psychological risk factors (e.g., emotion dysregulation, impulsivity) across substance and behavioral addictions to develop integrated treatments. He leads the Addictions and Mental Health (ADMH) Laboratory, collaborating with institutions in Canada, Australia, and Brazil.

- Links between childhood trauma and cannabis use
