Pedro Resende

Pedro Resende serves as Full Professor at the Mathematics Department of Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon), where he coordinates the scientific area of Algebra and Topology since 2014 and presides over the Center for Mathematical Analysis, Geometry, and Dynamical Systems since 2023. His academic career spans over two decades with continuous research contributions and teaching responsibilities across undergraduate and graduate programs.

Resende's research spans foundational mathematics and interdisciplinary applications, with early work focusing on quantales, groupoids, and noncommutative geometry, and recent publications exploring mathematical models of consciousness and physical measurement theory. His work bridges abstract algebra with theoretical physics and cognitive science, particularly through his development of quantale-based frameworks for understanding qualia and geometric worldviews in consciousness studies.
