Dr. Pedro Ferreira is an Honorary Research Fellow at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London. His work focuses on image processing, data science, and AI applications in cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). He leads research in diffusion tensor CMR (DT-CMR), developing tools for analyzing myocardial microstructure in health and disease.
- Education: PhD in MRI Physics (Imperial College London), MSc in Medical Engineering & Physics (King's College London), BSc in Physics/Applied Mathematics (University of Porto).
- Research: Specializes in DT-CMR to study myocardial laminar organization and dysfunction in cardiomyopathies. Co-developed automated postprocessing frameworks using deep learning for cardiac diffusion tensor data.
Awards: 2015 SCMR Gerald Pohost Award, 2017 Orloff Science Award (NIH). His work has advanced understanding of myocardial microstructural dynamics in hypertrophic and dilated cardiomyopathy.
