Pedro Adão e Silva is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Policy at ISCTE-IUL since 2007, serving as Director of the PhD in Public Policy program. He holds a Bachelor's in Sociology (ISCTE-IUL, 1997) and a PhD in Social and Political Sciences from the European University Institute (Florence, 2009), focusing on the Europeanization of social policies.
His research centers on public policies, social policies, and Europeanization. He leads teaching activities including 'Research Design' and 'Methodologies in Public Policies' at the Master's and PhD levels. He is an Integrated Researcher at CIES-Iscte, the Center for Research and Studies in Sociology, and President of IPPS-IUL (Portuguese Political Science Association). He previously served on the Board of Directors of CoLABOR, a lab focused on work, employment, and social protection.
His work emphasizes collaborative research with academia, public institutions, and civil society. Notable projects include CoLABOR’s initiatives addressing employment dynamics, social protection, and the solidarity economy. He contributes to public discourse through op-eds analyzing democratic challenges and political processes.
