His research spans Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, Administrative Offenses Law, and Human Rights, with particular emphasis on European Court of Human Rights jurisprudence. He has published extensively across these domains, with 262 research outputs documented including 72 publications in 2023 alone, reflecting his exceptionally active scholarly engagement. His work often bridges theoretical legal scholarship with practical judicial application, particularly through his dual role as academic and judge.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on the intersection of traditional legal frameworks with contemporary challenges, including digital technologies, judicial independence, and the rule of law in European contexts. His scholarship demonstrates consistent engagement with both Portuguese legal developments and broader European human rights frameworks, often examining how national legal systems implement and interpret European conventions.
