Paula Radisich is a Professor of Art History in the Department of Art & Art History at Whittier College. She holds a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research focuses on 18th-century French art, particularly the works of Jean-Siméon Chardin and Hubert Robert, examining themes such as Enlightenment aesthetics, fashion, cultural politics, and the interplay between art and societal structures. She has authored books including Pastiche, Fashion and Galanterie in Chardin's Genre Subjects (2013) and Hubert Robert: Painted Spaces of the Enlightenment (1998). Her scholarship explores topics ranging from Chardin's engagement with artistic debates to Hubert Robert's depictions of urban and garden spaces. Radisich has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, analyzing subjects like fashion in 18th-century Paris, royal patronage, and gender representation in portraiture. Her work bridges art history with cultural studies, offering insights into how visual culture reflects Enlightenment ideals and social dynamics.
