Cristina Ruggero

Dr. Cristina Ruggero is a Research Fellow at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, working on the project "Antiquitatum Thesaurus: Antiquities in European Visual Sources of the 17th and 18th Centuries". Her office is located at Jägerstrasse 22/23, 10117 Berlin, Space 336.

Her research focuses on the study of antiquities as depicted in European visual sources from the 17th and 18th centuries. This interdisciplinary work spans Art History, Cultural Heritage, and European History, with particular emphasis on visual representations of ancient artifacts in early modern contexts. The research integrates methodologies from iconography, material culture studies, and historical analysis of visual media.

Currently, she contributes to the "Antiquitatum Thesaurus" project which systematically catalogs and analyzes visual materials related to antiquities across European collections from the Baroque and Enlightenment periods. This work supports broader scholarship in the reception of classical antiquity through visual culture.
