Professor Paul Ward is Professor of Public Health and Director of the Research Centre for Public Health, Equity and Human Flourishing (PHEHF) at Torrens University Australia. He holds a PhD in Health Sociology from the University of Manchester, a Master's in Health Services Studies from the University of Leeds, and a BA in Social Geography from the University of Salford.
His research examines socio-spatial health inequalities, social determinants of health, medicine usage patterns, and health service provision. Current projects include studies on alcohol reduction strategies for midlife women, multicultural health access assessments, and frailty screening in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Professor Ward's recent publications demonstrate methodological pluralism, employing mixed-methods approaches to investigate health inequities across diverse populations. His work frequently addresses the intersection of social structures, health behaviors, and policy implementation in both high-income and resource-limited settings.
As Principal Chief Investigator, he leads multiple competitive research grants funded by the Australian Research Council and NHMRC. His research contributes significantly to Sustainable Development Goals related to health equity and reduced inequalities.
