Dr. Paul Vincent Britzer is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Health Research, University of Bedfordshire. He specializes in public health and organ donation research, with a focus on health inequalities and minority community engagement. His work addresses barriers to organ donation within religious and cultural contexts, particularly among Muslim and Indian-origin populations globally. He collaborates with Professors Nasreen Ali and Gurch Randhawa on projects exploring workforce challenges and community outreach.
Dr. Britzer holds a MPH and PhD, with qualifications in Physician Assistant studies. His research integrates qualitative methods and systematic reviews, contributing to policy recommendations for improving organ donation rates. Notable achievements include the 2021 Young Investigator Award from the Asian Society of Transplantation and successful grants from NHS Blood and Transplant for community engagement initiatives in Luton and Bedford.
He supervises PhD students like Dr. Asma Al-Abdulghani, whose work examines deceased organ donation barriers in Muslim communities. His recent projects include the SunFLowEr Project and involvement in the CHILL study assessing London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone impact on children’s health. Dr. Britzer also trains research assistants and teaches public health modules at the master’s level.
