Paul Taylor

Dr Paul Taylor is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the TC Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland, and Fellow of the Centre for Public, International and Comparative Law. His research spans international human rights law, conflict of laws, and competition law.

Education: He holds degrees in Commerce, Economics and Law from the University of Queensland, a Master of Laws from the same university, and a Doctorate (Juridical Science) from Queensland University of Technology.

Research focuses on:

• Implementation of human rights standards in Australian law
• Cross-border litigation frameworks at The Hague Conference
• Regulation of expressive freedoms and religious content in international law

Publications reflect a shift from competition law (1990s) to contemporary human rights issues, with thematic emphasis on freedom of expression, academic discourse, and digital platform regulation.

Professional engagements include representation of Australia at OECD and Hague Conference negotiations, Visiting Fellowships at Cambridge and ANU, and adjunct role at University of Notre Dame Australia.
