Dr. Peter Blanchard is a Visiting Professor at the TC Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland, and a Teaching Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Law School. He holds a PhD in International Trade Law from UNSW, an M.A. in International Relations from Macquarie University, and a B.A. in U.S. History and Economics from the Australian National University (ANU).
Before pursuing academia, Blanchard spent 30 years in policy advising and executive management across public and private sectors. His career included roles as Deputy CEO of the Federation of Automotive Products Manufacturers, CEO of the Australian Chamber of Shipping, and CEO of Tradegate Australia Limited. He specialized in e-commerce services for international trade, transport, and financial payments industries during the 1990s to 2011.
His teaching focuses on International Trade Law, International Business Law, and the Introduction to the American Legal System at UNSW. His research interests align with his academic and professional background, emphasizing legal frameworks for global trade, e-commerce regulation, and cross-border financial systems.
Blanchard’s career bridges legal academia and industry expertise, leveraging decades of practical experience to inform his scholarly contributions and pedagogy.
