معرفی
Paul Tackley is a Professor at ETH Zurich (since 2005) and previously held academic roles at UCLA, including Assistant (1994–1999), Associate (1999–2003), and full Professor (2003–2005). He specializes in geodynamics, planetary dynamics, and numerical simulation methods. His research explores mantle convection, lithospheric dynamics, and the evolution of Earth and extraterrestrial bodies. He leads the Geodynamics Division of the European Geosciences Union (since 2017) and serves on editorial boards of journals like Geophysical Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics. Notable awards include the Packard Foundation Faculty Fellowship (1997) and AGU Fellow (2017).
Education: PhD in Geophysics (Caltech, 1994), M.A. and B.A. in Natural Sciences (Cambridge University, UK). His work bridges computational geophysics with planetary science, focusing on mantle processes, crustal formation, and exoplanet geodynamics. He has authored over 140 publications, including high-impact papers in Nature and Nature Geoscience, with 10,288 total citations (Google Scholar).
Service roles include AGU Macelwane Award committee member (2015–2019), ETH Research Commission (2009–2017), and chair of ETH Zurich's Institute of Geophysics (2010–2013). His research group contributes to understanding Earth's tectonic systems and planetary evolution through advanced numerical modeling techniques.
