Paul Pfleiderer is the C.O.G. Miller Distinguished Professor of Finance at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), where he has taught since 1981. He serves as Director of the Corporations and Society Initiative and focuses on research in corporate governance, financial markets, and regulation of financial institutions. His work often collaborates with Anat Admati, examining issues of asymmetric information in markets and its implications for policy and corporate behavior.
Education: Pfleiderer holds a BA, MPhil, and PhD in economics from Yale University (1976, 1979, 1982, respectively). He has advised corporations, developed risk models, and consulted for financial institutions.
Research Interests: Market microstructure, asset allocation, corporate governance, and regulatory frameworks for banks. His recent work critiques theoretical models in finance (e.g., 'Chameleons' paper) and explores leverage effects in banking.
