Paul Kreitman is an Associate Professor of Japanese History at Columbia University's Department of East Asian Languages & Cultures. His research bridges environmental history, global history, and science and technology studies, focusing on resource extraction, nature conservation, and state formation in the North Pacific.
- Current courses: ASCE UN1361 Introduction to East Asian Civilizations: Japan, HSEA GU4822 Troubled Islands of the Indo-Pacific, and HSEA GR8839 Graduate Colloquium in Modern Japanese History.

He previously worked as a carbon offset consultant at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities in Tokyo and held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of London’s Institute of Historical Research.
