Dr. Paul Joseph-Richard is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at the Ulster University Business School, within the Department of Management, Leadership & Marketing. A Chartered Coaching Psychologist, he teaches HRM and Research Methods across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. In 2023, he was awarded the prestigious National Teaching Fellow by Advance HE for his transformative impact on student outcomes and higher education pedagogy. His qualifications include an MBA in HRM (Queens’ University Belfast), an M.A. in Psychology, and a PhD in Leadership Development.
His research focuses on leadership development, research-informed teaching, learning analytics, and doctoral researcher wellbeing. Notable contributions include the textbook Advanced Methods for Human Resource Management Research (2025). He has published extensively in journals such as Studies in Higher Education and Human Resource Development International.
Before joining Ulster in 2018, Paul taught at Southampton Solent University and Queen’s University Belfast, and held leadership roles in the UK National Health Service. As a certified coaching psychologist, he advises organizations on leadership development and psychometric assessments. He is committed to reducing the disability employment gap and fostering inclusive organizational practices.
