Paul J Young

Paul J Young is an Associate Professor in the Department of French and Francophone Studies at Georgetown University's College. He holds a doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, with a dissertation titled "Reading, Writing, and Seduction: Eighteenth-Century Dangerous Practices". His research focuses on visual arts, spaces, architecture in eighteenth-century French culture, early modern visual culture, film, women writers, and the Italian detective novel. He has published articles on topics such as the French libertine novel, seduction tropes, eighteenth-century French architecture, and women writers of the period.

Additionally, Professor Young has extensive experience as a translator and interpreter, working with notable figures like Delphine de Vigan and filmmakers Claude Lelouch and Laurent Cantet. He is currently writing a book about four women writers from eighteenth-century France.
