Delphine Gras is an Associate Professor in the Department of Language & Literature at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), specializing in literature of the Americas and the African Diaspora. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Washington and has been recognized for her teaching excellence, including the 2016 Teaching Excellence Award and 2022 Student Success Champion Award. Her research focuses on Francophone, Anglophone, and Hispanophone writers, with a particular emphasis on gender, race, and Antillean identity.
Dr. Gras co-edited Reimagining Resistance in Gisèle Pineau’s Works (2023), exploring resistance through a gendered lens, and is currently writing a monograph on Black women writers of the early 20th century. Her publications span journals like Contemporary Women's Writing and CLR James Journal, addressing topics such as Toni Morrison’s use of rememory and Nicolás Guillén’s poetic reimagining of Blackness.
Her awards include multiple recognitions for service-learning integration in education and advocacy for social justice. Dr. Gras has also secured grants for cultural initiatives, including the Tournées Festival Grant (2011–2013). She advises students and engages in community outreach, reflecting her commitment to bridging academic and civic spheres.
