Paul Hurley is an Associate Professor of Acting and Movement at Kent State University's School of Theatre and Dance. With over 20 years of professional acting experience, Professor Hurley teaches acting and movement techniques. He holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Delaware's Professional Theatre Training Program and a BA from Lawrence University. He has been a member of Actors' Equity Association for more than 15 years.
Professor Hurley has performed leading roles at prominent theatres nationwide including Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Great Lakes Theater, Utah Shakespeare Festival, and Milwaukee Repertory Theatre. His research focuses on creating intersections between the Chekhov Technique and other acting methodologies like Meisner, Laban, and Étienne Decroux's work, and exploring these techniques in virtual performance spaces. He is a National Michael Chekhov Association Certified Teacher and certified teacher of the Meisner Technique, regularly presenting innovative research at national conferences including ATHE, MATC, and SETC.
