Jeff Thomakos serves as Lecturer in Acting at Oakland University's School of Music, Theatre and Dance. A certified Master Teacher of the Michael Chekhov Technique through The National Michael Chekhov Association and The Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium, he holds the distinction of being the world's only tri-certified instructor of this method.
His educational background includes:
- MFA in Acting from Wayne State University’s Hilberry Theater Program
- BFA in Acting & Directing from Kent State University
Thomakos specializes in:
- Psycho-physical acting approaches including Psychological/Archetypal Gesture and Atmosphere
- Shakespearean and classical performance techniques
- Acting-for-camera and Commedia del 'Arte
- Advanced improvisation training from Second City Chicago and Brave New Workshop
He currently serves as Producing Artistic Director of The Inspired Acting Company in Walled Lake, producing inclusive productions of new and classical works. His performance career spans regional theaters including Purple Rose Theatre, Meadow Brook Theatre, and City Lit Theater Chicago, where his ensemble in 'She Stoops to Conquer' received Joseph Jefferson Award recommendations.
