معرفی
Paul Dowling is an Associate Professor in the Biology Department at Maynooth University's Faculty of Science & Engineering, affiliated with the Human Health Institute. He holds a BSc in Pharmacology from University College Dublin and a PhD in Biology from NUI Maynooth. His academic roles include lecturing, supervising postgraduate students, and leading practical classes. His research focuses on biomarker discovery in cancer and muscle disorders, leveraging proteomics and mass spectrometry techniques. He has secured significant grants, including €106,493 from Enterprise Ireland for lung cancer biomarker research and €230,000 from the Mater Hospital Foundation for studies on Multiple Myeloma drug responses.
- Education:
- BSc, Pharmacology, University College Dublin
- PhD, Biology, NUI Maynooth
- Research Interests:
- Biomarker discovery for early cancer detection and therapy monitoring
- Proteomic analysis of muscle disorders (e.g., muscular dystrophy)
- Drug resistance mechanisms in cancers like Multiple Myeloma
His research has produced over 30 peer-reviewed publications, emphasizing proteomic approaches to identify biomarkers in pancreatic, lung, and breast cancers, as well as muscular dystrophies. Recent work includes novel antibody-based therapies targeting cancer cell invasion mechanisms. He currently supervises five PhD/MD students and has mentored two prior students in biomarker-related projects.
