Paul Berghaus is an Instructor of Philosophy and Religion at James Madison University (JMU), joining in 2023. His research focuses on moral psychology, existentialism, and the philosophy of tragedy, particularly applying these to trauma and moral injury among military servicemembers. He developed a novel psychospiritual palliative approach integrating insights from Greek tragedy and European philosophy to address post-traumatic stress.

His work bridges philosophical theory with practical applications in clinical and non-clinical trauma recovery, emphasizing military contexts. Current projects explore the intersection of classical tragedy and modern therapeutic frameworks.
