James Ward is an Instructor of Religion at James Madison University's Department of Philosophy & Religion. He holds a BA from St. Andrews Presbyterian College, a Master of Divinity from Emory University's Candler School of Theology, and completed doctoral-level studies at the Catholic University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands. His research focuses on the psychology of religion, moral and religious identity formation, and ethics, with current interests in technology's role in learning and identity development. He is a member of the Madison Teaching Fellows and contributes to the Deep Learning research group.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as REL 101: Religions of the World and REL 102: Religion, Spirituality and the Meaning of Life. Ward's office is located in Cleveland 310, with contact details available via phone and fax.
