Paul B. Miller is the Robert and Marion Short Professor of Law and Associate Dean for International & Graduate Programs at Notre Dame Law School. He directs the Notre Dame Program on Private Law and has held visiting appointments at institutions worldwide, including McGill University, Bucerius Law School, and Peking University. His research focuses on private law theory, equity, fiduciary law, and corporate law, with notable works such as Philosophical Foundations of Fiduciary Law and The Oxford Handbook of Fiduciary Law.
Miller is on the American Journal of Jurisprudence editorial board and co-edits Oxford Private Law Theory with John Oberdiek. He actively organizes academic workshops, including the Fiduciary Law Workshop IX and North American Workshop on Private Law Theory, fostering global collaboration in legal scholarship.
Recent scholarly activities include presentations on topics like Reinach and Personality in Private Law (Yale, 2024) and Political Trust in Judicial Office (Harvard, 2022). His work bridges theoretical and practical aspects of law, emphasizing foundational questions in private law systems.
