Paul A. Beck is a Professor at The Ohio State University, affiliated with the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (where he served as Dean from 2004–2008) and holds additional appointments in the School of Communication and Department of Sociology. His work spans political science, sociology, and communication, focusing on electoral dynamics.
- Education: AB in Political Science from Indiana University, PhD in Political Science from the University of Michigan
Beck’s research addresses voting behavior, political parties, and political communications both nationally and cross-nationally. His current work explores the role of mass media, interpersonal networks, and secondary organizations in shaping electoral outcomes within modern democracies.
He has received numerous accolades, including the Samuel J. Eldersveld Award and Frank J. Goodnow Award from the American Political Science Association (APSA), as well as Ohio State’s Faculty Award for Distinguished University Service, Distinguished Scholar Award, and Outstanding Teaching Award. He is also an honorary member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi.
