Patsy Perry

Dr. Patsy Perry is a Senior Lecturer in Fashion Marketing at the Manchester Fashion Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University. She holds a PhD in Management from Heriot-Watt University (2012), an MBA from the University of Southampton, and a BSc in International Fashion Marketing from her current institution. Previously, she worked at The University of Manchester (2013–2020) and Heriot-Watt University (2009–2013). Her research focuses on ethical and sustainable practices in fashion marketing, supply chains, and consumer behavior.

Her expertise includes corporate social responsibility, digital transformation in retail, and the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion. Perry has been awarded the 2015 Emerald Literati Network Award for Excellence and recognized at international conferences (IFFTI 2018, 2019). She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Fashion Marketing and Management and reviews grants for ESRC, EPSRC, and the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Perry’s work bridges academia and industry, engaging with NGOs, policy forums, and media outlets like BBC, CNN, and The Guardian. She has supervised 10 postgraduate students and secured grants on topics such as climate change education and sustainable supply chains. Her advocacy for fashion ethics extends to media contributions, including op-eds on fast fashion’s human and environmental costs.

Key areas of impact include advising governments and organizations on ethical fashion practices, presenting to the UK’s All Party Parliamentary Group, and collaborating on projects like the ESRC-funded THRREADS initiative addressing garment sector sustainability. Perry’s interdisciplinary approach addresses systemic challenges in global fashion systems through policy, education, and technology.
