Julie Hodson

Julie Hodson is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader at the Manchester Fashion Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University. She oversees fashion business programmes including Fashion Business and Management, Fashion Buying and Merchandising, and Fashion Marketing. Her expertise lies in Supply Chain Transparency, Circular Economy, and International Fashion Supply Chain Management. Hodson holds a BA Hons in Business Studies, an MRes in Business and Management, and a PGCAP (Merit). She is a Chartered Member of the Textile Institute and a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority (FHEA).

Her research focuses on digitalising supply chain transparency, digital product passports, and circularity policies. She collaborates globally with institutions in China, India, the Dominican Republic, Japan, and Australia. Hodson has presented at conferences such as IFFTI and the British Academy of Management. She serves as an external examiner for undergraduate programmes at the University of London (LCF) and Holmes University (Melbourne, Australia).

With 20+ years in fashion retail buying, Hodson bridges industry and academia, teaching across global locations and pioneering industry-academia partnerships. Her work emphasizes ethical practices, sustainable strategies, and supporting independent design entrepreneurs.
