Research Interests: Basso’s expertise spans Roman architecture (theaters, amphitheaters), medieval urban transformation, Roman landscape archaeology (road networks, rural settlements), and excavation methodologies. Her projects combine fieldwork (e.g., Aquileia’s Late Antique markets) with analytical techniques like paleobotany and archaeometry. She investigates how ancient structures evolved over time and their socio-cultural implications.
Teaching: She teaches modules such as 'Archaeology and History of Greek and Roman Art,' 'Roman Architecture and Town Planning,' and 'Topography of Ancient Italy.' Recent courses include archaeological excavation fieldwork in Aquileia and Negrar, emphasizing hands-on learning and digital documentation.
Grants & Projects: Key projects include 'Aquileia - Excavation of Late Antique Walls and Market,' 'In Veronensium Mensa: Food and Wine in Ancient Verona,' and 'Ancient Rituals: A Multidisciplinary Approach.' These involve international collaborations and cutting-edge methodologies like geophysical surveys and material analysis.
Labs & Teams: She collaborates with the Archaeology Laboratory (ArcheoLab) and the 'Rituali Antichi' research group, advancing interdisciplinary studies on ancient rituals and urban archaeology.
