Patrizia Basso

Patrizia Basso is a Full Professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Verona, affiliated with the Department of Classical Archaeology within the Faculty of Culture and Civilization. Her research focuses on Roman architecture, particularly the transformation of ancient theaters and amphitheaters into medieval and modern urban structures, Roman road systems, and landscape archaeology. She leads excavations in sites such as Aquileia and Verona, specializing in Late Antique markets and urban development. Basso is actively involved in academic governance, serving as Director of the Department of Ancient Studies and chairing committees like the QA Board of the Archaeology, Art History, and History PhD Program.
