Patrick O'Donnell

Dr. Patrick O'Donnell is a Lecturer and Research Co-ordinator in Engineering, Science, and Technology at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) Perth, affiliated with the Cultural Institute for Northern Studies. His research focuses on education policy, learner transitions, and institutional cultural change. He actively supports PhD students and contributes to interdisciplinary academic initiatives.

Research Interests: learner transitions; learning spaces; education policy formation, interpretation, enactment, and impact; institutional cultural change; teacher professionalism; vocational education; curriculum design; and the history of teaching and learning.

Recent articles explore medical student role models during the pandemic (2025), university library spaces (2021), and learner transitions from further to higher education (2018). His work emphasizes qualitative methodologies and policy analysis.
