Rosalind Bryce is a Professor and Director of the Centre for Mountain Studies at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), based in Perth, Scotland. She holds a PhD in Ecology from the University of Aberdeen and a BSc in Zoology from the University of Glasgow. Her interdisciplinary research bridges natural and social sciences, focusing on environmental management through stakeholder collaboration. She leads projects addressing integrated land use, conservation, tourism impacts, and cultural values of nature.
Key research interests include the role of social factors in environmental decision-making, cultural ecosystem services integration, and evidence-based policy. She has contributed to initiatives such as the ‘JPI Cultural Heritage’ project and studies on pandemic recovery in Highland communities. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly environmental sustainability and community resilience.
Recent publications explore ethical tourism recovery in Arctic regions, frameworks for sustainable rural development, and innovative approaches to environmental policy integration. She actively supervises PhD students and collaborates internationally on projects like ‘Peat, Diesel and Seaweed’ and ‘Community-Determined Change-scapes of Recovery.’
