Patrick Maxime Michel

PATRICK MAXIME MICHEL is a Researcher (MER 1) at the University of Lausanne's Institute of Archaeology and Ancient Sciences since 2018. He holds degrees in classical archaeology/ancient history (University of Lausanne) and Assyriology (University of Geneva), with a PhD defended in 2012 (published 2014). His career includes teaching roles at Swiss universities (Geneva, Bern, Lausanne) and international institutions. Active in archaeological fieldwork, he participated in Syrian excavations with the American University of Beirut and held a postdoctoral fellowship at Venice International University (2013-2014). Currently directs the Collart-Palmyra research project and is completing a DAS in cultural property law. Research focuses on ancient Near Eastern/Mediterranean cultures, languages, iconography, and heritage preservation.
