Patrick Hakizimana

Patrick Hakizimana is a part-time Professorial Lecturer at George Washington University specializing in conflict analysis and resolution, global security, and migration studies. His research focuses on the intersection of conflict, climate-driven displacement, and refugee experiences in post-conflict reconstruction. He holds a PhD from George Mason University and has taught at American University and George Mason University in negotiation, intercultural communication, and global security.

Education includes a Master’s in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from Arcadia University and a PhD from George Mason University, with fieldwork in Ukraine, Israel/Palestine, Northern Ireland, and Africa. He has consulted for organizations like IFES on conflict and displacement, managed refugee services for 45+ nationalities, and worked in displaced persons camps in the DRC.

Current projects include a book examining identity, refugee experiences, and international law across geopolitical contexts. His expertise spans migration policy, electoral systems in conflict zones, and post-conflict governance.
