Patrick Denice is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Western Ontario. His research focuses on social inequality, education policy, and labor markets, with a particular emphasis on school choice policies, non-traditional educational pathways, and workplace institutions. Denice holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Washington and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis.
His work examines how educational and labor market policies exacerbate or mitigate racial and socioeconomic disparities. Recent projects include analyzing charter school enrollment patterns, pandemic impacts on postsecondary education, and the effects of pay secrecy policies on wages. Denice has been recognized with awards such as an honorable mention from the Sociology of Education Association and an Editor’s Choice Award in Demographic Research.
He teaches courses on racial inequality, quantitative methods, and urban sociology. His interdisciplinary approach bridges sociology with public policy, and his media engagements include op-eds in The Conversation, The Globe and Mail, and interviews on topics like pandemic-related disparities and workplace transparency laws.
