Patrick Chung is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Maryland, specializing in U.S. military history with a focus on Cold War dynamics, global capitalism, and East Asian studies. His research examines the interplay between the U.S. military-industrial complex and East Asian economic development, particularly South Korea's post-war growth. He holds a Ph.D. from Brown University (2017) and a B.A. from Penn State (2010). Chung’s work has been recognized through prestigious fellowships and published in Diplomatic History and Radical History Review. He is currently completing a book, Building Global Capitalism, analyzing U.S. military influence on South Korea’s economic 'miracle.' His research also explores Asian American history and the role of journalism in shaping diplomatic relations.
