Bradley Simpson is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at the University of Connecticut. He specializes in US foreign relations, Southeast Asian history, international history, development, and human rights. His research focuses on the history of self-determination, US-Indonesian relations (1965–1998), and Cold War-era political and cultural dynamics. He holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University.

His current projects include a global history of self-determination and a study of U.S.-Indonesian relations under Suharto. He co-edits The Routledge History of Human Rights and leads a declassification project at the National Security Archive on Indonesia and East Timor. Recent research explores how Cold War conflicts, decolonization processes, and globalization shaped international law and sovereignty debates. He critiques how authoritarian regimes like Suharto’s Indonesia were integrated into global systems, impacting development, civil-military relations, and Islamic politics.
