David Webster is an Assistant Professor of History at Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. He specializes in Canadian foreign policy, decolonization, and trans-Pacific relations, with a focus on East Timor, Indonesia, and human rights advocacy. His research examines the intersection of diplomacy, nationalism, and international organizations in post-war contexts. He has authored influential books such as *Fire and the Full Moon: Canada and Indonesia in a Decolonizing World* (2009) and *Challenge the Strong Wind: Canada and East Timor 1975-99* (2020), and has edited volumes on truth commissions and Timor-Leste’s independence struggle. Webster holds affiliations with Carleton University (Adjunct Research Professor), the Graham Centre for Contemporary International History (Senior Fellow, University of Toronto), and the Wilson Institute for Canadian History (McMaster University). His work has been supported by grants from the Canadian government and international organizations.
Education: MA and PhD in History from the University of British Columbia, with prior teaching roles at the University of Regina (International Studies).
