Dr. Hannah Loney is Visiting Assistant Professor in Gender Studies at Central European University, Vienna, with expertise in women's and gender history, transnational feminist activism, and twentieth-century Southeast Asian and international history. Her research focuses on gendered violence, oral history, memory, and nationalism, particularly during the Indonesian occupation of East Timor.

Her 2018 monograph, In Women’s Words, analyzes gendered violence through oral histories of East Timorese women. In 2020, she co-edited Gender, Violence and Power in Indonesia, exploring structural inequalities across colonial and postcolonial contexts.
Research Trends: Her recent work examines intersections of gender, violence, and power in Southeast Asian history, with a focus on visual documentation of torture, post-conflict women's movements, and transnational feminist networks. Articles highlight methodological innovations in oral history and critiques of nationalist historiography.
