Dr. Vannessa Hearman is a Senior Lecturer in History at Curtin University, coordinating the History program and teaching International Relations. Specializing in Southeast Asian history, her research focuses on Indonesia and Timor-Leste, particularly Cold War impacts, human rights, and historical justice. Her award-winning book *Unmarked Graves* examines the 1965-68 anti-communist violence in Indonesia. She leads an ARC-funded project on East Timorese migration and co-leads a study on post-conflict art in peacekeeping zones. Hearman holds advanced degrees from the University of Melbourne and is a certified Indonesian translator. She contributes to scholarly journals like *Inside Indonesia* and *Asian Studies Review*, and has received multiple awards including the ASAA Early Career Book Prize.
