Jayne Persian

Associate Professor Jayne Persian specializes in Australian and migration history at the University of Southern Queensland's School of Humanities and Communication. She holds a PhD from the University of Sydney and has authored seminal works on post-war displaced persons in Australia, including *Fascists in Exile* (2024) and *Beautiful Balts* (2017). Her research examines transnational histories of fascism, Holocaust memory, and diaspora communities.

Research interests include: Australian history, migration patterns, fascism studies, oral history methodologies, and cultural memory. She co-leads an ARC-funded project on Russian immigrants and anti-communism in Cold War Australia (2022-2025).

Teaching focuses on Australian history, World War II, and public history through courses like HIS1005 and HIS3007. She supervises postgraduate research in migration, displaced persons, and political history. A co-founder of the Australian Migration History Network, she also serves as a judge for State Library of Queensland literary awards.
