Patricia Zarate Perez

Patricia Zarate Perez is an Assistant Professor at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, specializing in Music Therapy. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from Berklee College of Music (1999) and a Master of Arts in Jazz Studies from New York University (2004). As a saxophonist and music therapist, she has performed across five continents and advocates for music therapy's global impact.

• Founded Latin American Music Therapy Symposium (2013), Latin American Music Therapy Network (2014), Music Therapy Center of Panama (2015), and Boston Center for Multicultural Music Therapy (2018)
• Created UDELAS diploma program in Panama (2017)
• Executive Director of Panama Jazz Festival

Her research explores intersections between music therapy, jazz performance, and social activism. She has taught master classes on music's societal impact across the Americas and Europe. Currently homeschooling her three children in Quincy, MA while maintaining active professional engagements.
