Kavyesh Kaviraj

Kavyesh Kaviraj is an Adjunct Faculty member in Jazz Piano at the University of St. Thomas and Minneapolis College, and also teaches at Walker West Music Academy. He holds a Master of Music in Performance Studies from Berklee College of Music with a Global Jazz Concentration and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz, Contemporary, and Urban Music from Columbia College Chicago. Kaviraj studied under jazz masters including Danilo Perez, Kenny Werner, and JoAnne Brackeen.

His expertise includes:

• Jazz piano performance and composition
• Contemporary music theory and practice
• Intersections of global music traditions
• Black American music history

He performs nationally with jazz fusion quintet Mississippi and has collaborated with artists including David Sanchez, Justin Robinson, and Roosevelt Collier.
