Patricia Rieman is an Associate Professor of Education at Carthage College, specializing in Literacy Education with a doctoral emphasis. She holds a Master’s in Special Education/Social-Emotional Disorders and an Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction/Literacy Education from Northern Illinois University, alongside a Bachelor’s from the University of Tulsa. Her career includes teaching special education in Oklahoma and roles at Northern Illinois University before joining Carthage.
Her research interests span literacy education, special education, and social justice advocacy. She actively engages with organizations like CUSH and the Coalition for Dismantling Racism, and is certified as a Safe Zone Ally and Equity Warrior at Carthage. Additionally, she serves as a Teacher Trainer for Population Education and a facilitator for Community Action Poverty Simulations.
